Districts discuss management of Covid-19 corpse

Dimapur, April 26 (EMN): Tuensang district task force (DTF) on Covid-19 has discussed procedure in handling dead bodies and its disposal in case of any eventually due to Covid-19 and also agreed to find out an isolated plot of land for burial ground.

The issue was taken up for discussion during its review meeting held in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner (DC), Tuensang, on April 25 under the chairmanship of the DC, Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant, a DIPR report stated.

The house also resolved to chalk-out plan of action in case of detection of Covid-19 and to set up a “district war room” as call and media centre.

The DC presented the present status of preparedness on Covid-19 and other relevant issues and urged everyone to be aware of infection prevention control at all times.

The house also reviewed the present status of the preparedness in relation to Covid-19 and to facilitate those stranded students/ people from Dimapur, Kohima coming to the district.

In a related programme, Kiphire district task force on Covid-19 has discussed on management of Covid-19 dead bodies during a meeting a meeting held on April 23 at DPDB hall, Kiphire.

Briefing on the special operation procedure (SOP), chief medical officer (CMO), Kiphire, Motsuthung stated that if any one dies due to Covid-19 disease, the corpse would be taken care of by the dead body management wing that included the police and the medical staff, while only four relatives of the dead would be allowed to attend.

He also stated that the properly disinfected corpse would be packed and transported for burial anywhere. He added that the public should not object to allot the land for burial of the dead body.

Also speaking at the meeting, Deputy Commissioner and chairperson of the district task force Sarita Yadav informed that the state government has assured an ex-gratia of INR 10 lakh to the frontline workers including the police, medical workers in case any fatality occurred during the duties on Covid-19.

She also notified that if any person was found trying to harass the doctors, medical workers would be jailed for a period of six months which might extend to seven years along with a fine of INR 50,000.

Superintendent of Police, Kiphire, Erie Kajire has appealed to the public to refrain from circulating fake news on social media. He added that even ‘press releases’ pertaining to charity works should be made through the knowledge of the administration especially in this crucial hour.

According to CMO’s latest report on preparedness, it was learned that the portable ventilator installed at Covid-19 hospital is functional. It has also received four varieties of PPE.
