District-level Science fair held in Tuensang

DIMAPUR — Office of the District Education Officer (DEO) of Tuensang organised a district-level Science fair at the auditorium of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Tuensang, on Wednesday with the Superintendent of Police, Kanchan Kumar Kanpal, as the chief guest.

Speaking at the programme, the chief guest stated that Science is a way of life and a way to think. Describing Science as a beautiful gift to humanity, he urged the participant not to distort it, a DIPR report stated.

Basing on his understanding, he has explained the acronym of SCIENCE wherein ‘S’ stands for systematic approach to anything is scientific, ‘C’ for comprehensive, ‘I’ for investigation, ‘E’ for exploration, ‘N’ for natural elements, ‘C and E’ for cause and effect.

The judges of the competition were Beso Chang, SDO (SC) of Soil and Water Conservation; Tekameren Walling, assistant professor at Sao Chang Goverment College; and K Videla Jing, assistant professor at Sao Chang Government College.

It stated that Tonchingkhumla of Class 11 from Wela Foundation School and Peshie H of Class 12 from St. John Higher Secondary School were declared winners of the seminar, while Kongniu P of Class 10 from GHS Chabacame won the second position.

M Yemkhiung of Class 9 from St. John Higher Secondary School was declared winner of the exhibition in single category, while Y Yimchunger of Class 9 from AkumImlong School won the second prize. The winner of exhibition in group category was won by Lychia Chang and Ngakusipong of Wela Foundation School and the second prize was won by Tangsoi and Sanglilemla of GHSS Thangjam.

Report stated that a seminar on “Millet- A super food or a diet fad” and an exhibition on “Science and Technology” were also conducted during the event.

Millet festival held in Tuensang

Millet Festival was celebrated at Tuensang Town Hall on August 30 with the deputy commissioner of Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, as the special guest.

During the celebration, millet recipe competition was organised with participation from various SHG from Tuensang.

A DIPR report stated that Chingmei village was awarded with acknowledgement certificate, cash prize and millet mill for maximum millet production during the year 2023 in village catagory.

The programme was organised by the department of Agriculture.

In a similar programme, Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM), in collaboration with Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) at Tuensang Lower Section, celebrated millet festival at the school auditorium on August 29 with the deputy commissioner of Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, as the special guest.

The millet festival highlights included millet recipe competition, wherein Noklak block, Chessore block, and Panso block secured the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions respectively.
