District-level indigenous games competition held in Kohima

Dimapur, March 28 (EMN): Kohima district-level indigenous games competition was held at IG Stadium in Kohima on March 27.

District Sports Officer, Kohima, Dziesebeinuo Vizo informed that the competition was conducted in three disciplines with around hundred participants, an update from DIPR stated.

In the discipline of Tug-of-war (men), Bout Lords (Bull) won the first position while Champion Team and Bout Lords (Lighting) won second and third place respectively.

In Tug-of-war (women), United sisters was declared as winner while Black warriors and St. Luke won the second and third positions respectively.

In bamboo stilt race, Wangkhan was declared the winner and Hinglokpo won the second place.

In cock fight, Ruyonu Thelou was declared as the winner while Medosatuo and Vaphizo Rutsa were placed in the second and third positions respectively.

The winners were awarded certificates along with cash prize of INR 10,000, INR 7,000 and INR 5,000 for first, second and third positions respectively in tug-of-war.  Cash prize of INR 3,000, INR 2,000 and INR 1,000 were awarded for first, second and third position holders in Bamboo stilt race and cock fight.

It also informed that the winners would be representing Kohima district in the forthcoming state-level indigenous games competition to be held at IG Stadium in Kohima on April 8 and 9.
