WOKHA — Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital (DMMDH), Wokha, commemorated one year of its Sunday service initiative with a thanksgiving service held at the hospital’s chapel hall on Sunday.

Launched in 2024, the Sunday service was introduced to provide hospital staff — many of whom remain on duty even on Sundays — an opportunity to worship and seek spiritual strength within the hospital premises.

Addressing the gathering, Medical Superintendent Dr. N Mhonchan Kithan said the initiative was envisioned to help employees attend worship services and pray for their patients, and also to uplift their moral and spiritual well-being.

He expressed gratitude to God and underscored the importance of thanksgiving, stating that it not only nurtures spiritual growth but also contributes to physical and mental health by reducing stress and blood pressure.

Dr. Kithan also acknowledged the support of various churches that have visited the hospital to share God’s word and strengthen the faith of the medical staff.

The speaker for the occasion, Mhademo Ngullie, Music Director of Wokha Town Baptist Church, spoke on the significance of gratitude and the various forms of thanksgiving.

He encouraged the congregation to thank God not only for blessings received but also in anticipation of future blessings, and even during times of hardship. He urged all to remain steadfast in faith and continue being grateful, faithful Christians in both joy and trials.

The programme was chaired by staff nurse R Ayala.

Invocation was led by General Surgeon Dr. Visazotuo, while the offertory prayer was said by psychiatric nurse Lireni Tungoe of DMMHP.

A special song was presented by staff nurse Areni, and the Bible reading was done by Lokyonglo. The service concluded with a hymn followed by a mass spoken prayer.
