DIMAPUR — The five-day District Handloom Expo (DHE) ‘TANA BANA’ kicked off at Shepherd High School ground, Niuland, on Friday.
The expo is organised by the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with the Sub-District Industries Centre (SDIC), Niuland, a DIPR report stated.
Deputy Commissioner of Niuland, Sara S Jamir, who attended the inaugural programme, lauded the Department of Industries and Commerce for organising the handloom expo to encourage and expand local artisanship. Addressing the gathering, she urged the department to continue supporting local artisans in every possible manner.

Jamir further urged the department to provide necessary training, skill upgrade, and access to modern scientific tools and technologies to improve productivity and product quality among local weavers and artisans.
“The event continues to draw public interest and is expected to further promote the growth of the handloom sector in Niuland district,” the report stated.
