DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 15

Alleging that the Dimapur district administration had issued an illegal land deed to one Chibeni Lotha in 2007, the Naga Council Dimapur has asked the administration to cancel the allotment immediately.
While expressing shock at the land allotment, the Naga Council said the deed (patta) was issued allotting public land and space in the heart of the commercial town (below New Fly Over near Manipuri Hotel). The exchange is clearly a vested interest, under the garb of legal sanction, the council said in a press release received here today.
The persons with vested interests have now encroached upon public land in the form of construction activity which is encroachment on public property, misuse of government machinery for personal gain, legally wrong and unethical, obstructing public movement in market place (and) renders obsolete the property and commercial value of the old building in front of which the new building is coming up, the council said.
The Naga Council cannot be a mute spectator to such injustices being committed by guardians of the law, the press release said. “Interestingly, even the DMC had given its clearance for construction to take place which shows that there is a vast network of conspirators working to siphon off public property. This should be investigated at the earliest,” the release said.
The ‘present district administration’ is asked to cancel the allotment immediately “in the interest of public order.”
