DISHA Longleng organised an awareness and dissemination programme on the HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act, 2017.

DIMAPUR — A dissemination programme on the HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act, 2017, was held at the chief medical officer’s (CMO) conference hall in Longleng on July 8.
The programme was organised by DISHA Longleng and sponsored by the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS).
According to a release from the CMO of Longleng, Dr. G Viholi Sema, the programme aimed to create awareness among civil society leaders and student and youth leaders on the provisions of the HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act, 2017, while promoting a greater understanding of HIV prevention and control and the legal rights and protections guaranteed under the Act.
The resource persons, K Bongyei Phom and L Yingloi Phom, delivered sessions highlighting the importance of creating an informed and stigma-free society. They spoke on HIV prevention and control measures, the responsibilities of communities in addressing HIV-related issues, and the legal implications of the act, including the protection of the rights and dignity of people living with HIV.
The speakers encouraged participants to become advocates for awareness in their respective communities and institutions by disseminating accurate information, combating stigma and discrimination, and supporting efforts to prevent the spread of HIV.
