Kohima, Oct. 23 (EMN): To educate students about emergencies, emergency preparedness, and risk management, a seminar for schools on said topics was conducted on October 21 in Kohima.
About 311 students of the classes 10 to 12, and the faculty of St. Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School at Lerie in Kohima, participated in the programme, updates stated.
A demonstration on disaster management was conducted by emergency personnel. A training session on ‘strengthening national disaster response’ was conducted to help students understand the steps to be adopted when responding to various emergency situations.
They were told that a high state of preparedness were the necessary steps to handle crisis successfully, the updates stated. A mock drill was also conducted. It was organised to check the readiness of the school in case of emergencies, it was informed. ‘An exhibition of rescue was also held in the school’s premises and a live demonstration was given to the students and also evaluation was done after the session,’ the updates stated.
