Kohima, June 3 (EMN):
In an effort to ease the burden of the government in the fight against the novel coronavirus, different communities and churches under Diphupar village, have set up various quarantine centres within its jurisdiction in Dimapur.

Speaking to Eastern Mirror, Winnerson Lotha, secretary of village level vigilance and monitoring cell (VLV and MC) for Covid-19, Diphupar village, informed that about nine home quarantine centres have been set up at different sites.

Realising that there are risk factors for returnees to go to their respective districts for undergoing home quarantine for another 14-days on completion of institutional quarantine, Lotha informed that the village decided to arrange some temporary home quarantine centres.

The home quarantine centres are meant for those returnees who are residents of Diphupar village.

Besides schools and other community halls, various communities have offered their church guest houses to be used as temporary home quarantine centres for the returnees at different locations within the village jurisdiction.

According to the data provided by the vigilance and monitoring cell for Covid-19, about 175 returnees are from Diphupar village, out of which 42 returnees have already reached Nagaland.

Lotha informed that they have released six inmates who have completed their home quarantine from their centres, while another six inmates are currently under home quarantine in the centres.

The vigilance and monitoring cell are also keeping track of the rest of the returnees and are in touch with them.

They are also managing their facilities for returnees irrespective of different tribes within the jurisdiction.

Lotha apprised that personal protective equipments (PPE), hand sanitisers, masks, gloves, disinfectants etc. have been made available for the in-charge and volunteers manning the inmates in the quarantine facilities.

The secretary stated that they are also observing the health condition of the inmates everyday to keep a check on “whether they have developed any suspicious symptoms or not.”

He maintained that since all the returnees are not coming at one go, they are able to “handle it” (home quarantine centres).

Lotha shared that during such extraordinary times, people should help one another. “The churches, communities and the government should come together at this time of pandemic and help one another,” Lotha said.

The village had set up the home quarantine centres on May 13.

The communities, churches and various individuals of the village are contributing towards the management of the home quarantine centres.
