Dimapur, Dec. 11 (EMN): Diphupar SC won the first edition of the Dimapur Division League (DDL) on Friday, defeating Chekiye United via a tiebreaker at Dimapur District Sports Council Stadium (DSCC).

The winner of league had to be decided by penalty shootout after the final match between Diphupar SC and Chekiye United ended in a goalless draw, wherein the former won 5-4.

Diphupar SC walked away with a cash prize of INR 1 lakh along with a trophy, while Chekiye United received a cash prize of INR 60,000.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, advisor of Power department, Tovihoto Ayemi said that people need good platform to showcase their talents and DDL has provided that.

He said that Nagas have inborn talent; all they have to do is just a little bit of polishing, extra effort, sheer determination, regular practice and to be little more sincere and discipline.

DDL was initiated by Kevilhulie Zakiesato, Tove Zhimomi, Hitova Ayemi, Wonito Zhimoni and Inonito Zhimomi with an aim to promote football in the state. A total of 10 teams — Chekiye United, Eimi FC Phaipijang, Diphupar SC, Thahekhu Youth Football Club, NCFC, Unity FC and Diphupar B FC, Kacharigaon Blitz FC, Kushuabill FC and PB Youth FC – participated in the first edition of the league which kicked off on October 6.
