Diphupar Inter-Khel Football tournament commences

Dimapur, Dec. 15 (EMN): The 21st Inter-Khel Football tournament of Diphupar village kicked off at Diphupar village with I Imkong, ex-minister, Nagaland as the special guest on Wednesday.
Addressing the crowd during the inaugural programme, Imkong urged the Naga youths to take interest in games like boxing, martial arts, archers and shooting ‘as we have natural instinct to excel in these games’.
He encouraged the players stating that they can earn professionally through sports and games instead of looking for government jobs.
Stating that he supported the Konyak Union (KU), he reiterated their demand to repeal AFSPA.
Ghuzui Shohe, chairman of the Diphupar village council, stated that during the olden days, games and sports were played for physical and mental development but now it has become a profession and a means of livelihood for many.
12 Khels are participating in the tournament organised by Diphupar Naga Youth Organisation (DNYO) which will culminate on Dec. 21.
