Diphu Police arrests one person for felony

Diphu Police has arrested one person for forcibly barging into the house of a former member of Parliament (MP) and former president of Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee (KADCC), Birensing Engti in the wee hours of Tuesday at around 5:30 am.

It was reported that one Deuri Engti (35) of Paharline Kangnek Tokbi village forcibly entered into the house and broke the window pane of a parked Toyota Innova car besides damaging furniture including the dining table and chairs. On observing the commotion, a domestic helper of the house caught the miscreant and handed him over to Diphu police station.

Confirming the incident to media persons, second officer in-charge of Diphu police station, Akon Teron stated that Deuri Engti has been arrested and a case filed against him. Teron stated that the miscreant forcibly entered into the house of former MP Biren Singh Engti and damaged the properties without any reason.

Driver of the former MP, Nukul Bora stated that the miscreant entered the house from behind early in the morning when no one was awake.

According to Bora, the miscreant initially damaged the window pane of the car with a spade and later entered the drawing room and damaged furniture including table, chairs, door, and windows.

Bora informed that luckily, no one was present at the time of the incident otherwise ‘he could attack and harm them from the look of his expression.’
