Diocese of Kohima celebrates Bible Sunday

Members of the Diocese of Kohima celebrated Bible Sunday on August 25.

Dimapur, Aug. 25 (EMN): The Diocese of Kohima celebrated Bible Sunday on August 25 across the parishes in the diocese.
A diocese is a district under the pastoral care of a bishop in the Catholic church.
The celebration was marked with ‘much fervour and reverence to the Word of God, updates from the church stated.
The diocese issued a press release to the media on Sunday informing about the programme.

The Bible Sunday is an annual event decided by the Regional Bishop’s conference of Northeast India, the press release stated.

The Mary Help of Christians Cathedral commemorated the occasion on the 25th of August with Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, bishop of Kohima, as the main celebrant for the Solemn Holy mass, the organisers stated. Also, Frs. Carolus Neisalhou and Victor concelebrated the Holy Eucharist with believers to mark the occasion, they stated.

According to the press release, the celebration began with the reading of the Word of God by Rev. Fr. Carolus Neisalhou, the parish priest. The congregation walked in procession to the church with the Holy Bible and placards on which the Word of God were written, the updates stated.

During the homily, James elaborated on the six fundamental aspects of the Holy Bible. He said that the Bible is the single most important and most influential Book ever written.

‘The Bible has transformed individual and the word,’ James said. He explained that people are even willing to die the cause of the Bible that is Jesus Christ, the Word who became flesh, the updates stated. The Bible is the most accurate book of antiquity, he said.

The church leader was stated to have elaborated the contents of the Bible and said that it contains life-changing message of God’s Love. He concluded saying “the Bible connects everyone to the history’s most important figure Jesus of Nazareth.

‘In the bible we meet and encounter the Son of God,’ he told the faithful.
The second session of the celebrations was a Bible Quiz competition that was conducted in the church, the updates stated. ‘The students took active participation to relive the Word of God among the intellectuals,’ the press release stated. The quiz master of the competition was Dr. Louis Asa.

The winners and the participants were all presented with cash awards and other gifts. The first three individual winners will represent the parish in the regional level, the updates stated.
