Dimapur, Jan. 27 (EMN): Dimasa Kachari community in Dimapur celebrated its post harvest festival ‘Bishu’ at Bamunpukhuri village on Thursday with SK Khemprai, former president and advisor to KTCN, as the chief guest and Lothak Girisa, GB of Darogajan, as the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest highlighted the importance of the festival and stated that there is no date or time of starting/ establishment of Bishu festival as it was celebrated since the time of Brai Shivrai (Lord Shiva), stated an update from the organising committee. According to him, young boys and girls come together to respect their elders and also forgive each other during the festival.
He also advised the younger generation to uphold the good values of the festival and also encouraged the Dimasas Kacharis of Nagaland to continue celebrating Bishu every year.
The celebrations began with an opening prayer said by a GB Roben Dimasa, while the welcome address was delivered by Ratip Daulaguphu, president of the celebration committee. It was followed with presentation of cultural dances and songs by Dimasa Kachari cultural clubs accompanied with games and sports.
