DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 10

Commemorating 25 years of inception, the Konyak Students’ Union Dimapur (KSUD) celebrated its silver jubilee with the theme “Striving for Excellence” on Saturday October 10 at Konyak Baptist Church Dimapur with Minister for Rural Development & REPA C.L.John as the chief guest.
Addressing the congregation on the auspicious day, C.L.John reminded the students that before the birth of Christianity in Nagaland there was neither united Naga nor a recognized Konyak community. But after the coming of Christianity in the state Naga unity took place and at the same time the beginning of education took birth. With the blessing of Christianity education came into being and because of this he said a student organization such as KSUD is celebrating the 25 years fruit of education.Celebrating the 25 years of the Konyak student community, C.L.John remarked that jubilee celebration signifies honoring the founding members, leaders and remembering the past mistakes and shortcomings to move ahead with greater achievements. The word ‘jubilee’ has been quoted from the Holy Bible which recounts individuals to ‘work and eat’ to take pleasure in the fruit of labor added C.L.John. He therefore called on the student community to contribute a constructive idea with constructive criticism instead of destructive criticism and build a balance society with their valuable contribution and participation.
“Let this jubilee signify blessing and brighter future for Konyak community in general and Konyak Students Union in particular with unity to achieve desired goal for a better society” urged the Minister to the student community.
Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) Chairman Yanang Konyak addressing the community on the occasion as the jubilee speaker reminded them that the world is in a competitive phase and for the prestigious NPSC exam 2015, for 71 post 13000 applicants’ have applied which sends a message of hard competition. Stating this he pointed out that the KSUD has an important role to play for the Konyak community in particular with their opportunity to be stationed in the commercial hub and most important city of the state.
The day was marked by honoring the past leaders and founding members of the student union and the community with jubilee greetings from the apex body Konyak Students Union Mon President Longai Konyak and KSUD Treasurer C.Noklem.
