Dimapurians receive ‘Vivek Ratham’ with enthusiasm

To commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the statue of Swami Vivekananda with a Chariot (Vivek Ratham) was received in an impressive manner on November 19 with around two thousand delegates irrespective of caste and creed from various communities from Dimapur, Kohima and neighbouring areas gathered in Dimapur Public Ground (DDSC Stadium). A procession with the chariot from public ground passed through plaza junction and culminated in Ramakrishna Society at Duncan, Dimapur. The procession was remarkable with oneness feeling of the citizen of Dimapur. The chariot well decorated with statue of Swami Vivekananda his message of peace, prosperity and universal brotherhood.
Originated from Guwahati, the ‘Rath’ after travelling all the states of North East and crossing more than sixty cities, reached Dimapur and left for Lumding on the morning of November 20. In a public function at R K Society ground on November 19 evening, Lipok Pongen former DMC member attended as chief guest and Swami Shumanasanandaji from Cherapunji and Atmagatanandaji Maharaj from Arunachal Pradesh as guest of honour.
Sikh, Marwari, Muslim, Buddhist, Gorkha, Bengali, Kachari, Bhojpuri communities and NGOs along with youth delegates from Dimapur and Karbi Anglong attended the public meeting. Lipok Pongen lauded the enthusiasm of Dimapurians in showing hospitality to receive Vivek Rath in Dimapur.
Students were awarded with memento and certificates for participating in art, essay and speech competition. Meanwhile, convenor of the celebration committee Bishnu Bhattacharjee has extended gratitude to all for their participation to make the day long programme success.
