
DIMAPUR — During the year 2021-22, Nagaland reported 28 murder cases, according to the Nagaland Statistical Handbook 2023 published by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics with Dimapur having the highest number of cases, accounting for 11.
Dimapur topped the list in ordinary theft cases as well, with 363 reported cases out of the state’s total of 584 during the same period. Chümoukedima was a distant second with 68 cases, while Mon ranked third, having reported 42 instances of theft.

According to the same report, as of March 31, 2022, Nagaland is equipped with 75 police stations, 37 police outposts, 17 police check posts, and four police beat posts.
A district-wise breakdown indicates that Kohima has seven police stations, Dimapur nine, Phek eight, Mokokchung 10, Wokha six, Zunheboto nine, Tuensang five, Mon seven, Kiphire two, Longleng four, and both Noklak and Chümoukedima have three each.
Tseminyu and Niuland each have one police station. Meanwhile, Peren and Shamator do not have any police stations within their districts.
