Dimapur, June 29 (EMN): In order to contain the spread of Covid-19, Dimapur has decided to sensitise and educate the masses about the disease through community participation by training the youths, Hohos, churches leaders and village councils to disseminate important information to the public.

The decision was taken at a meeting convened by Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur Anoop Khinchi on June 29 with Director of Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) Dr. Sedevi Angami, DMC, SDO (C) Dimapur, representative from different civil societies to deliberate matters with regard to Covid-19, informed an update from DPRO Dimapur.

The DC of Dimapur has directed DMC Administrator Albert Ezung and SDO (c) Zubenthung Ngullie to chalk out a training programme so that it can be imparted to all the concerned during the next 15 days by drawing human resources from different civil societies that have expressed willingness to extent their services, the press release read.

Khinchi further said that mechanism would be devised for reaching out to the quarantine centres through various means.

Dr. Sedevi Angami suggested at the meeting for developing “small task force” and mapping it out for more coverage to the communities. “We should learn not to be teachers but facilitators,” he observed.

Chairman of Christian Forum Dimapur Rev. Moses, while pointing out on the issues of stigmatisation and discrimination in the prevailing situation, emphasised on the need for educating the community, said the update. He also dwelt on the importance of social media platforms for creating awareness to the people about the dos and Don’ts with regard to Covid-19. All the civil societies expressed their willingness to work together in co-ordination with the Dimapur district administration, the update added.
