Dimapur rubber farmers get crash course on rubber cultivation
DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 24
[dropcap]W[/dropcap]ith an objective to orient the rubber farmers with the latest technologies, ATMA-Dimapur organised an interstate farmer’s training at Rubber board, Guwahati for the farmers of Dimapur district from November 17 to 19.
Altogether, 18 participants including ATMA officials of Dimapur led by Janet Chishi, Deputy Project Director (ATMA) and Akavi Holo BTM Kuhuboto block (ATMA) took part in the training.Resource person of the training, Cyrise joseph, technical officer RBZO, Guwahati briefed the farmers briefed on management of rubber nursery, land preparation for plantation of rubber. He stressed on the importance of variety suitable for Nagaland condition.
During the course of the training, the farmers visited rubber field where the Philimon Basumati, farm manager, RRTC, Harbara demonstrated the method of planting of rubber budded stumps at hilly and plain areas.
The trainees were also taught on tapping using different technologies to harvest the latex. Meanwhile the participants have extended a gratitude to ATMA-Dimapur for providing excellent learning opportunity through training and demonstration.
