Commemorating the ‘Rotary vocational service month,’ the Rotary Club of Dimapur felicitated persons from Dimapur who have contributed towards the development of the town. The felicitation programme was held at Rotary Centre in Midland, Dimapur, on January 30.

The awards were given in honour of their contributions towards the uplift of the community during the year 2020-21.

The recipients were given memento, certificate and cash award. The award recipients included P Ramna and Nagraj, both from DMC sanitary worker, Diezenuo Miachieo, a staff nurse from Dimapur District Hospital, Thunglamo Lotha, postman from Dimapur post office, and Temsuwapang Longchar, DMC sanitary officer.

The Rotary vocational service excellence award for entrepreneurs was also presented to Bistro 29, Funky Buddha and the Himalayan Beans, Hope Café and Bakery, and Nagaland Coffee Shop. The Rotary vocational leadership award for Rotarians, who had served the community beyond vocational commitment during the novel coronavirus pandemic, was also presented to Dr. Asonla Aying Chang, Dr. DR Sharma, Dr. EM Ovung, Dr. Nitin Agarwalla and Rakesh kochar and Ann Priya Kochar.

Speaking on the occasion, Pradeep Kr Jain, stated that the awards were presented to various individuals and groups for maintaining excellent quality standards in their chosen vocational field and for fulfilling the aspiration of the community.

“The awardees have also set an example to others by overcoming social, individual difficulties to start a vocation, and also give employment,” he added.

The club president, Kitoshi Zhimomi, mentioned that the object of the club was to encourage and foster the ideal of service. She added that Rotary recognises the importance of all skills and occupations by honouring business or professionals that demonstrate high ethical standards.
