Dimapur, Nov. 28 (EMN): As part of the state-wide awareness programme, the Dimapur branch of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) distributed relief materials such as tarpaulins, blankets, utensils, mosquito nets, t-shirts masks, soaps etc to the underprivileged people on November 27.
An update from the IRCS Dimapur stated that the SDO, Dimapur Sadar, Zubenthung Ngullie gave away the relief materials to residents of Railway Colony, Civil Hospital Colony, Netaji Colony, Urban Complex Colony and adjoining areas at Shri Shri Ram Thakur Temple behind Dimapur railway station in the presence of the managing committee members and patrons.
Speaking on the occasion, Ngullie appreciated the dedicated services of Dimapur Red Cross and its volunteers in particular for their yeoman service in containing the coronavirus pandemic in Dimapur district.
It also stated that the managing committee members took turn to apprise about maintaining social distancing, ration packaging and distributions, support to the administration, assistance to the returnees, managing quarantine centres, ambulance etc. during Covid-19 pandemic with its 500 volunteers besides creating awareness about the expected second wave of Covid-19. They also expressed gratitude to the district administration, commissioner of police, chief medical officers for their consistent service to assist the public during the pandemic.
It mentioned that IRCS headquarters and Nestle India have sponsored the relief items on a special request from IRCS Nagaland.
The team also distributed face masks to all the 500 volunteers through respective team leaders at NIIT Dimapur Centre.
