Dimapur, October 17 : Governor PB Acharya has initiated various steps for improvement of Dimapur railway station such as improvement of unreserved ticketing system counters, ticket checking, parking space for differently-abled persons, enhancement of storage capacity of FCI, cleanliness and round-the-clock security.
Under these initiatives of the Governor, Dimapur railway station has introduced four unreserved ticketing system counters on August 10. With the introduction of this counters ticketing has become easy and the counters are dealing with more than thousand ticketing everyday.
To keep the station clean, the station authority is constantly inspecting the premises and also conducts counselling to the commuters on cleanliness besides imposing fine on those who litter the station.
For improvement of the station, a committee headed by ADRM/LMG has been set up to accept and address any suggestion submitted by the commuters and general public.
The initiatives also include separate parking area for differently-abled people for which the railway authority has earmarked parking area and a tender has been floated for parking contract which will be out this month. Besides regular frisking of luggage of passengers, CCTV cameras have been installed and security forces personnel are being deployed round-the-clock to secure the station.
