Dimapur, July 21 (EMN): The rise in the number of Covid-19 cases among frontline workers has prompted the Dimapur Police to restrict all vehicular movements, except those used for transporting essential commodities and individuals on Covid-19 duty, after 2 pm.

Speaking to Eastern Mirror, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Rothihu Tetso said the police enforced diversion in various parts of the main town on Tuesday and will not allow any vehicular movement hereafter.

“We want the city to be deserted after 2 pm; the public must comply with the rules unless it is an emergency,” said Tetso.

The police officer reiterated that there is ‘no point of roaming around’ after 2 pm as all the shops are closed.

‘If people want to roam around even after the given time, they can’t return home as police will be keeping strict vigilance,’ informed Tetso.

“Except essentials and those exempted will be allowed; rest won’t be allowed to go home,” Tetso added.
