Dimapur, Sep. 5 (EMN): Dimapur police arrested seven persons from different locations in the past fortnight for indulging in various criminal activities. A police report issued by the Additional Commissioner of Police and PRO Dimapur police stated that cases have been registered with different police stations for further investigation.
On September 3, Dimapur police arrested one person identified as Yanglikhum Sangtam (23) of Phiriahi village in Tuensang district on charges of extortion and phone snatching from a truck in 5th Mile, Dimapur. Case in this connection has been registered at Diphupar Police Station.
On August 25, Dimapur police E-patrol party at 3rd Mile area, Dimapur, intercepted one motorcycle without registration number with two occupants. On frisking, police recovered one point 32 pistol along with 25 rounds and cash amounting INR 5610 as well as two mobile phones and other documents from the possession of Jakhalu Aye.
Further cash amounting INR 9865 and two mobile phones were recovered from the possession of Akato. Case in this connection has been registered at Diphupar Police Station and investigation is on, the report added.
On August 31, Dimapur police also apprehended one person namely Inalo Yepthomi (35) of Hotoi village in Niuland sub-division and residing at Walford colony, Dimapur, while he was demanding INR 10000 as yearly tax in the name of NSCN- R from Durga Mandir area, Dimapur.
Case in this connection has been registered at Sub-Urban Police station for further investigation.
On the same day, Dimapur police anti-extortion team apprehended one person namely Tali Rocky Yimchunger (39) of Ipunger village under Pungru sub-division in Kiphire district and residing at UNB ‘A’ Burma Camp, Dimapur, while collecting tax at Burma Camp.
During search, police recovered one .22 pistol along with magazine and five rounds of ammunition from his possession. Case in this connection has been registered at East PS and investigation is on, the report stated.
On September 2, Dimapur Police anti-extortion team apprehended one person namely Nur Mahammad Ali (28) and resident of Lathimari, Nagaon, in Assam as he was suspiciously loitering in and around the ATM booth near SBI Bazaar branch.
On interrogation, it was revealed that he, on the pretext of helping others especially senior citizens, swiped the ATM cards of the victims with invalid cards with which he would fraudulently withdraw the money. Subsequently, four ATM cards were also seized from his possession. Case in this connection has been registered at West Police station for further investigation.
On September 4, Dimapur police arrested Lakshmi Thapa (43) of Gurbal village, Tezpur, in Assam and resident of Chumoukedima for giving false FIR to the police with regard to her missing daughter of minor age whom she had deliberately relocated at another place in Dimapur. A case has been registered with Women Police Station for further investigation, the report said.
