Dimapur police issues traffic advisory for NH-29 amid multiple landslides; bodies of 6 persons recovered
DIMAPUR — Dimapur Commissioner of Police, Kevithuto Sophie has issued a travel advisory in view of the multiple landslides along the NH-29, at Pherima, Tseipama/Piphema and Pakala Pahar/New Chümoukedima, which has washed away the entire section of the road.
In view of this, all vehicular traffic between Kohima and Dimapur on NH-29 is blocked, rendering the stretch of road unplyable, read the traffic advisory issued on Wednesday.
It informed that alternate routes via Pimla-Mhainamtsi for commuting between Kohima and Dimapur is also not advised due to the landlsides and mudslides.
Therefore, commuters are advised to take the Niuland-Kohima via Zhadima road (only for light motor vehicles), but no heavy vehicles will be allowed to ply on the same route.
The citizens are also advised to take extreme precautions during this weather condition and to plan their travels accordingly.
Meanwhile, at least six persons were killed due to the massive mudslide at Pherima on Tuesday night.
Body of one person was recovered in the early hours of Wednesday, while five others were found hours later.
