Dimapur police introduces emergency medical response squad

(Photo courtesy Dimapur police)[/caption] Dimapur, May 17 (EMN): The Dimapur police authorities have launched its first ever emergency medical response squad – called as ‘Medical First Responder Team’. The PRO of Dimapur police in a press release issued on Wednesday informed that the medical response team comprise of an ambulance and two motorcycles, along with trained personnel. “Functioning under the Dimapur Traffic Police and on duty round the clock, the Medical First Responder Team will be stationed at both Zone-I and Zone-II Traffic Control and respond to vehicle accident cases. “A team of 12 personnel from the Dimapur Traffic Police and Homeguards were made to undergo training at the Central Training Institute, Toluvi on the application of first-aid and pre-hospital treatments”, the PRO informed through the statement. During the launch, P Sendongmeren, the deputy commissioner of Police (Traffic) emphasized that the first hour following a traumatic injury also known as the “golden hour” was the most crucial period and, prompt medical treatment could prevent death, it stated. “The object of this initiative is to save lives and provide services for the welfare of the citizens”. It was also informed that the commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Limasunep Jamir had “flagged off the squad following a brief programme and demonstration at the office of the commissioner of Police, Dimapur” on Monday last.
