Dimapur, May 4 (EMN): The Dimapur police commissioner has issued an order informing that odd-even system of vehicular movement would be enforced in the containment zones -- Dimapur Municipal Council, Chümoukedima Town Council and villages/colonies along Dimapur-Chümoukedima four-lane road – with effect from Wednesday.

The new traffic rule will come into force for a period of seven days starting at 7 pm on May 5.

The update informed that vehicles with registration number ending with odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7 and 9) can commute on Monday, Wednesday and Friday while those registration numbers ending with even numbers (2, 4, 6, 8 and 0) can commute on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

It stated that anybody violating the order will be penalised under U/S 177 and 179 of the MV Act 1988. However, it said that exempted categories are exempted from this rule but they have been asked to carry ID cards issued by respective HoD.

It has further appealed all the citizens to co-operate in the interest of public safety.
