Dimapur, Jan. 26 (EMN): The Dimapur police authorities on Fri. issued a prohibitive order under section 144 (A) of the CrPC prohibiting any person from carrying arms (firearms, machete / daos, clubs, spears, explosives, catapults or any other articles designed or adopted as weapon for offence or defence).”
A copy of an official statement from the Dimapur police commissioner on Fri. announced the imposition of said order following the announcement to conduct the assembly elections in Nagaland. This measure, it stated, was to “ensure no untoward incidents occur during the conduct of current election 2018.”
Also, the authorities have informed all “arms licence holders” to surrender their licensed weapon to the nearest police station on or before Feb. 10. “Failure to comply with this order shall invite prosecution of the licence holder under the Arms Act, 1959 and may lead to cancellation of their arms licence,” it warned.
