Dimapur police arrests one for theft

Dimapur, Aug. 14 (EMN): Dimapur police, with assistance of Golaghat police, arrested one person identified as Mintu Tanti (29) on charges of breaking into a private office in Kalibari Road, Dimapur, and decamping with cash of INR 40 lakh on August 13.

A police report issued by the additional deputy commissioner of police (crime) and PRO, DEF Dimapur, stated that following his arrest in Dhodhang village under Kamargaon police station in Golaghat, a major part of the stolen cash amounting to INR 28,16000 was subsequently recovered from Thuramukh village in Golaghat district.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested individual was planning to construct a building with the stolen cash, however the plan had to be postponed due to the Covid lockdown, report stated. It added that during the initial investigation, a private security guard (employed by the private office) one Semson Ronghang was also arrested for deliberately facilitating the crime in the connection.

It further stated that a case has been registered in Sub-Urban Police Station, Dimapur.
