Dimapur, Sep. 7 (EMN): Dimapur police arrested eight alleged extortionists from different locations in the past one week.
A police report issued by the deputy commissioner of police (crime) and PRO stated that one person identified as Alam Shah (35) was arrested based on reliable sources on charges of kidnapping a truck driver and demanding INR 27,000 near Patkai Bridge on September 1. It added that the truck driver was rescued in the course of investigation.
A case in this connection has been registered at Chümoukedima police station vide case No 54/21 U/S 384/363 IPC.
On September 2, Dimapur police arrested two persons identified as Khekugha Aye (31) and Hovikhu Sumi (43), while they were issuing information slips to the business establishments in the name of NSCN (R)/ GPRN ministry of chaplee affairs from 6th Mile area.
Report stated that case in this connection has been registered at Chümoukedima police station vide case No 055/21 U/S 34/384 IPC R/W 7 NSR.
On the same day, Dimapur police arrested one Yehoto Aye (41) for demanding money from truck drivers at Diezephe village, Dimapur. It stated that case in this connection has been registered at Sub-urban police station vide case No. 63/2021 U/S 384 IPC R/W 7 NSR.
On September 3, Dimapur police arrested one Shikavi Chophy (35), while demanding money from egg wholesaler shops in the name of NSCN(R) at Naga Bazaar Murgipatti, Dimapur. It stated that the police recovered cash of INR 32,000 from his possession. It added that case in this connection has been registered at East police station vide case No 172/2021 U/S 419/384 IPC.
On the same day, police arrested one Lutoi K Achumi (27), while collecting yearly tax from Tata mobile and carrier auto in the name of NNC/GDRN from Naharbari area in Dimapur. Police recovered cash of INR 7,200 from his possession. It stated that case in this connection has been registered at East police station vide case No 173/2021 U/S 419/384 IPC.
On September 4, Dimapur police arrested one Mika Chopy (24), while serving a yearly tax at medical wholesale distributors located at MP Road in Dimapur. It stated that a case in this connection has been registered at East police station vide case No. 174/21 U/S 384/511 IPC R/W 7 NSR .
Meanwhile, police also arrested one Tokishe Yeptho (49) from 7th Mile area while issuing work permit in the name of United Naga People Government NNC (Parent Body). It added that case in this connection has been registered at Chümoukedima police station vide case No. 0056/21 u/s 384 IPC r/w 7 NSR.
