Dimapur police arrests 4 persons on charge of robbing INR 20 lakh

Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): Dimapur Police has arrested four persons in connection with a robbery incident of INR 20 lakhs that took place at Thaheku in Dimapur on October 15.
The arrested persons have been identified as one Khekaho Yeptho (37), Aghato Yeptho (34), Hokito Achumi (31) and Anato Achumi (37), according to a statement issued by the Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur, on Wednesday.
The public relations officer (PRO) and ADCP of Dimapur Police, T Relo Aye informed Eastern Mirror that one of the arrested individuals works as a cash executive of a cash pick-up and delivery agency. Along with his associates, he had concocted a fictitious story to the police claiming that miscreants on a motorcycle had robbed off a sum of INR 20 lakh.
“The (robbery) incident was actually enacted outside the Amazon office in Thahekhu where his friends arrived on a bike, assaulted the main accused and snatched the cash bag from the transportation vehicle,” Aye informed, adding that the cash was supposed to be deposited to Amazon.
However, owing to the inconsistent statements of the main accused with further technical data analysis by the investigating police officers, the employee of the agency finally confessed to orchestrating the crime with fabricated story, informed Aye.
In a press release, the PRO stated that an amount of INR 15,40,000 was recovered from different locations within the town area.
In this regard, a case has been registered against the four accused at sub-urban police station and investigation is on, the statement said.
