Dimapur police arrests 11 persons

Dimapur, Sep. 1 (EMN): Dimapur police arrested 11 persons on charges of extortion and possessing contraband drugs from different locations in the past two days.

A police report issued by the deputy commissioner of police (crime) and PRO informed that two persons identified as Kuputo (27) and Athrichum Sangtam (27), both allegedly cadres of NSCN-K (Nikki), were arrested on August 30 for extortion and issuing work permits to the non-Naga labourers along the National Highway in Chümoukedima area.

It stated that a case in this connection has been registered at Chümoukedima police station.  

In a separate incident, Dimapur police arrested two persons identified as Khevisha Kiba (37) and Azheto Kinny (37) on August 30 while extorting money from truck drivers at Kevijau Colony, Dimapur. It added that a case in this connection has been registered at Sub-urban police station.

On the same day, police arrested two alleged sympathisers of NSCN-K (Nikki) identified as Vitoka Aye (23) and Ambo Yeptho (17) for extortion and issuing work permits to the non-Naga labourers at Signal Bazaar area. It stated that a case in this connection has been registered at Sub-urban police station.

On August 31, Dimapur police arrested four persons identified as Hiniru Poumai (45), Moon Saikia (25), Zenitsu Rengma (49) and Saidul Islam Haiti (46) near the taxi stand, Dimapur. Police recovered 4320 capsules of Tramadol Hydrochloride Acetaminophen and Dicyclomine Hydrochloride along with 25 soap cases of suspected heroin weighing approximately 300 gram from their possession.

It stated that a case in this connection has been registered at East police station vide C/NO 170/21 U/S 22 (c) NDPS Act and investigation is on. 

On the same, police also arrested one person identified as Rajesh Thapa (40) from Railway Station, Dimapur, and recovered suspected brown sugar from four plastic soap cases containing a total of 55 gram from his possession. It added that a case in this connection has been registered at GRPS vide C/NO 11/21 U/S 22 (b) NDPS Act.

Meanwhile, based on a written FIR lodged at East police station on August 29 regarding stolen vehicle of a Mahindra Bolero pick-up, bearing registration No. AS01MC6266, police recovered the vehicle from Khuzama through GPS tracking. It added that one person identified as Kashing Peter (40) was arrested in the connection. It added that case in this connection has been registered at East police station vice case No. 169/2021 U/S 379/34 IPC.
