Dimapur police arrest six persons

Dimapur, Nov. 27 (EMN): Dimapur police arrested six persons from different locations of Dimapur during the past ten days for extortion  and theft.

A report issued by the additional commissioner of police and PRO stated that Dimapur police arrested one person identified as Mughato T Awomi of Mapulumi village in Zunheboto district and resident of 5th Mile Dimapur, on November 16. He was arrested from a river bank in Diphupar while extorting money from dumper trucks carrying sand gravel on November 16, the report stated.

Police recovered cash amount of INR 2150 from his possession. A case in this connection has been registered with Diphupar police station. In a similar incident on November 19, Dimapur police apprehended two persons while extorting money from the business community in the Hazi Park area, Dimapur.

They were identified as Helopi Yeptho, ‘ss’ under secretary of NSCN (R) of Lizuto village in Zunheboto district and resident of Thilixu village, and Jesheto Yeptho of Hovishe village under Niuland sub-division and resident of Chekiye village.

Police recovered cash amount of INR 6000 and two mobile handsets from their possession. A case in this connection has been registered with East police station.

In another incident on November 22, Dimapur police apprehended one person namely Anthony Molangmei, ‘ss’ Razapeu of NSCN(IM) of Sangji village in Tamenglong district, Manipur, and resident of Diphupar ‘B’ while extorting money from meat butchers.

Police recovered a cash amount of INR 300 from his possession. A case in this connection has been registered with Diphupar police station. On November 23, Dimapur police apprehended one person namely Salauddin Ali (27) from Nagaon in Assam and resident of Nagarjan, while extorting money at Rail Bazaar area. Police recovered cash amount of INR 830 from his possession. A case in this connection has been registered with Sub-Urban police station.

Meanwhile, in connection with a case registered earlier, Dimapur police on November 26 apprehended one person namely Kupoto Awomi of Baihmo village in Zunheboto district and resident of Padumpukhuri from TK Servicing area and recovered a stolen motorcycle. A case in this connection has been registered with East police station, the updates stated.
