Dimapur police arrest five persons

Dimapur, April 23 (EMN): Dimapur police have arrested five persons from various locations on April 22 on charges of different criminal offences.

A police report issued by an additional deputy commissioner of police and PRO stated that two persons identified as Meyong Konyak (36) and Imkong Akum (30) were arrested on April 22 charges of extortion from Walford area.

Police personnel recovered a sum of INR 25,000, one .32 pistol with four live rounds, one extortion slip, and two mobile handsets from their possession. It added that a case has been registered at East Police Station, Dimapur.

In another incident, Dimapur police arrested one person identified as Abdul Ali (19) on charges of extorting money from vegetable transporters at Burma Camp junction.

Police recovered cash of INR 5000 and three extortion slips from his possession. It added that a case has been registered at East Police Station, Dimapur.

In yet another incident, Dimapur police arrested one person identified as Kiheto Zhimo (41) on charges of extorting money from drivers at Khermahal Tata parking in the name of NNC. It stated that the police personnel has seized twenty extortion slips from his possession, adding that a case has been registered at West Police Station.

Meanwhile, Dimapur also arrested one person identified as Shorubul Islam (29). The accused person was apprehended by the public during an attempt to break into a hardware shop at Kevija-u colony, Dimapur. A case has been registered at Sub-Urban Police Station.

Police also recovered one motorcycle (Royal Enfield Classic 350) bearing registration No. NL07R-9739 and one car (Maruti Suzuki Ciaz) bearing registration No. AS01DY-5868 from different locations within Dimapur town on April 15.

Report stated that the recovered bike and car were subsequently handed over to the rightful owners.

Dimapur police also recovered a body of a non-Naga male approximately 45-50 years from Dimapur railway tract towards Dimapur-Khatkhati end on April 23.

An update from the police informed that on completion of all legal formalities, the body has been shifted to District Hospital for post-mortem examination and identification. The deceased was stated to be wearing beige colour long pant, light green t-shirt and blue slipper. Relatives and friends of the deceased are requested to contact officer in-charge of Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) for further information.
