Dimapur Okotsoe Ekhung celebrates golden jubilee

Dimapur, Dec. 5 (EMN): Advisor of horticulture, Mhathung Yanthan, called upon the Dimapur Okotsoe Ekhung (DOE) to remember the pioneers who have taken much pain and passed through hurdles to bring the committee thus far.
Yanthan said while speaking as guest of honour at the 50th golden jubilee celebration of DOE on December 4 at Bethesda Higher Secondary School (BHSS) compound, Walford, Dimapur.

In his jubilee greetings, Yanthan asked them to mark the celebration by forgiving one another and to look forward for better tomorrow in unity. He encouraged them to continue to uphold the same unity and bond of relationship amongst themselves.

Yanthan also stressed on the role played by agricultural sector in the process of economic development of a country. He pointed out the significant contribution made by agricultural sector towards the economic prosperity of advanced countries. He stated that agriculture will not only enhance the economy but also provide employment opportunity. Yanthan encouraged the gathering to adopt advanced technology of farming and also urged them to use government schemes judiciously.

Greetings were also shared by chairmen of Wokha Okotsoe Ekhung, Kohima Okotsoe Ekhung, Lotha Hoho Dimapur, and Okotso village council.
Highlights of the programme included release of jubilee souvenir and felicitation, special song presented by jubilee choir and Liyani Merry.

The programme was chaired by convenor of planning and organising committee TL Merry, invocation by AGEI superintendent general Rev. Moses Murry, and welcome address by DOE chairman Thungchibemo Shitiri.
