Dimapur, May 22 (EMN): Naga People’s Front(NPF) Dimapur-II Assembly Constituency unit on Sunday questioned the usage of the NPF office nomenclature during a meeting of party functionaries and  supporters of the sitting Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) MLA Moatoshi Longkumer at Sakus Mission College Auditorium on May 21.

During a press conference, President of NPF Dimapur-II A/C, Bendang Aier stated that it is ‘illegal’ to use the NPF nomenclature after defecting to the NDPP party.

The president also maintained that the NPF Dimapur-II A/C office had sent a letter earlier directing the MLA to refrain from using NPF nomenclatures and symbols during the NDPP meeting on Saturday, ‘however they didn’t heed to their request’.

Aier stated that according to the NDPP party, the meeting was attended by around 202 members but he alleged that among the total turn out, most of them were public, self help groups and people who were not affiliated to NPF party. He therefore questioned the NDPP party for declaring those attending the meeting as NPF party members.

He added that only a few officials who had defected from NPF were present in the meeting.

During the press conference, President of NPF Dimapur division, T Lotha said that the party had no objection with Moatoshi defecting and joining NDPP or his supporters supporting him.

Lotha however stated that the usage of heading on banners that read ‘consultative meet of NPF party functionaries under 2 Dimapur-II A/C’ after leaving NPF was illegal. He added that they had no objection to the office bearers who had resigned from the NPF party.

He also added that only a handful had left the NPF party and it(the party) will not be deterred and in no time, ‘the NPF party will get even stronger’.

President of NPF youth Dimapur division, Temsuyanger Jamir, also questioned the usage of ‘senior vice president’ during the media interaction on May 21, stating that the NPF party does not have such designation.

It therefore sought clarification from the MLA and those defected members regarding the same and added that they were contemplating to take legal actions against them.
