Dimapur Naga Students’ Union seeks immediate relocation of dispensary from GMS Midland
DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has requested the department of Health & Family Welfare to vacate the unauthorised occupation of classrooms at Government Middle School (GMS), Midland.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, the DNSU stated that the Health department had been occupying the classrooms despite an order from the Principal Director of Education Department to vacate the premises on July 5.
The Department has been operating a dispensary using some classrooms of the school, it stated.
“This blatant disregard for authority and student welfare is unacceptable. The DNSU is deeply concerned about the health and well-being of our community, but we firmly believe that the dispensary’s location within the school compromises the safety and education of our students.
“Therefore, we demand that the dispensary be relocated to a suitable alternative site. We prioritise both education and health, but they cannot coexist in this manner,” stated the press release.
Accordingly, it requested the Health department to relocate its makeshift dispensary immediately. It also appealed to the colony council to revoke any consent granted for the unauthorised occupation; and for the Education department to enforce its order and safeguard school infrastructure.
“We warn that failure to address this issue will compel us to take democratic action, ensuring the rights of students are protected,” it added.
