Dimapur Municipal Council announces new sub-committees for various amenities

DIMAPUR — In a move to streamline municipal operations, the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has formed 11 new sub-committees in accordance with guidelines issued by the Municipal Affairs Department, Government of Nagaland, for the newly constituted Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

Each sub-committee will focus on specific aspects of municipal governance, ranging from licensing and permits to sanitation and public health.

As per an order issued by the DMC chairperson on August 13, Imlinaro Stephanie Ezung will oversee the sub-committee for licence and permits, responsible for streamlining trade license renewals and applications, while H Nikali Zhimo will lead the sub-committee for public transport and parking lots, overseeing the city’s transportation and parking needs.

For the sub-committee for market regulation and enforcement, Neingutoulie Kenguruse was appointed as convenor and Phyobemo as member. The duo will oversee general market regulation, street vending activities, market rate control, as well as fines and penalties.

The critical area of sanitation will be managed by the sub-committee led by Achum Jami as convenor and Nzanbemi Huntsoe as member. This sub-committee will look after waste management and other sanitation related issues.

For social development, I Sentinuklu Jamir has been given the role of member in-charge of the sub-committee for urban poverty alleviation programme, public grievances, redressal and building permits.

Other key committees include the sub-committee for municipal properties and assets with Lanutoshi Steven Yaden as member in-charge; the sub-committee for public health, food safety and veterinary services led by Jonathan Yepthomi as convenor and Nikali Chophi as member; and the sub-committee for advertisements, hoardings and IEC with Nampiebeu as member in-charge.

Chubazungla is the member in-charge of the sub-committee for parks, street lights and beautification, focusing on enhancing the city’s aesthetics and public spaces, while Yimkumba, along with Kili N Sumi, will manage the sub-committee for planning & development, focusing on infrastructure projects.

Further, the sub-committee for tolls and fees, led by Lanuchuba Imchen as convenor and member Chibeni Chishi, will oversee revenue collection from DMC markets, railway wagons and vehicle entry points.
