Dimapur, May 21 (EMN): The Dimapur administration went into defensive move on Thursday, implanting a protective shield that will become operational around Friday noon even as a train carrying around 1400 Nagaland citizens is scheduled to reach Dimapur railway station around that time.
According to Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha, the Shramik Special Train Number 06194 that departed Chennai, in Tamil Nadu, on May 19 at 11.30 pm is arriving in Dimapur on May 22 at 1.05 pm, ‘carrying 1325 stranded persons of Nagaland’.
Consequently, the district administration of Dimapur on Thursday evening ordered shutdown of all shops and markets of Dimapur town starting from 12 noon of May 22 till midnight so as to facilitate the arrival of the special train from Chennai.
Similarly, the commissioner of police, Dimapur also issued an order on Thursday evening prohibiting all vehicular movement within Dimapur town for five hours from 12 noon till 5 pm (tentative)—which will be operational one hour before the expected arrival and four hours after the arrival of the special train.
In addition, the notification stated that there would be no exemptions for movement of vehicles during this particular period of the day.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror, the deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Anoop Khinchi, said that all returnees will be taken to the reception camp at Agri Expo site in 4th Mile, for screening and will be sent to their respective quarantine centres accordingly.
Another official source informed that there would be no specific route for transport of returnees after they reach Dimapur.
Stating that the lockdown will itself create a clear road as no vehicular movement is allowed, the source said that there was no particular need for a specific route as the entire town will be in lockdown. He added that the returnees would be transported to the reception camp by whichever route necessary for smooth transporting.
