Dimapur, Ghaspani candidates share views on polling day

Nagaland election polls in Dimapur I, II, III; and Ghaspani I and II constituencies concluded peacefully without any major issues on February 27.

While interacting with media persons at Purana Bazaar polling station, Dimapur-III A/C, NDPP candidate, Hekani Jakhalu said she was “101% confident” to be victorious as she could ‘see the love and support of people’.

When asked about her experiencing of being a first-timer contesting this election, Jakhalu said that it was not easy, adding that whether it is first or second time, election is always tough.

Meanwhile, JD  candidate Imsumongba Pongen from Ghaspani-I A/C after casting his vote at Diphupar government higher secondary school polling station said being a first timer has been a ‘great experience’, adding that in life, one has to learn every day. Pongen also expressed confidence in winning the election after observing that in all the polling stations he had visited, he was ‘doing well’.

Lun Tungnung, independent candidate from Dimapur-III A/C, while visiting Purana Bazaar polling station, also mentioned that people should elect leaders on the basis of their ability and capability and not on the basis of money and muscle power.

Azheto Zhimomi, LJP candidate from Dimapur-III A/C, while interacting with media persons at Purana Bazaar Government Higher Secondary polling station, said that polling stations were ‘peaceful’.

When queried which candidate would give him a tough competition from Dimapur-III A/C, Zhimomi said he considered every candidate equal since each candidate is contesting to win; while also expressing confidence that he will majority of the votes from the minority community of Dimapur-III A/C.
