Dimapur, June 23 (EMN): To avoid crowding and maintain social distancing, Dimapur district administration has decided not to allow footpath vendors to sell their items below the flyover bridge and Nyamo Lotha road.
The decision to this effect was taken during a meeting of Dimapur district task force under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Anoop Khinchi, held in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner, Dimapur, on June 23, a DIPR report stated on Tuesday.
Addressing the members, the DC expressed concern about the OPD patients suffering from various ailments like cancer, heart diseases, surgical cases etc. and stressed on the need to evolve an action plan to address their problem. He also informed that the proposal for installation of CT scan machine has been put up under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiated by Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC).
Echoing on the same line with Kinchi, medical superintendent, Dimapur, Dr. Kheshito Zhimomi, while informing that the lone government hospital at Dimapur has been addressing only Covid-19 cases for the past three months, felt an urgent need for addressing the plight of other patients.
The report also stated that the members have decided to draw the attention of the government to expedite construction of the 100-bedded abandoned hospital at Chümoukedima so that it could be used as Dimapur Covid-19 hospital and later convert it into an infectious diseases hospital as was done in other cities.
Also taking part in the discussion, Director of CIHSR, Dr. Sedevi, emphasised on the need and importance of mass awareness campaign. He felt that all the tribes, NGOs, churches, and every part of the society should be involved for creating mass campaign in educating the people in order to contain community transmission.
“This is one area, where we really need to step up,” he said.
Khinchi agreed that information must reach to all the households and stated that all NGOs would be trained to educate the people on the rules to be followed to keep away from the novel coronavirus.
It was also decided that border areas would continue to remain sealed. However, it was decided that students, government employees with ID cards and serious medical cases would be placed under the category in Borlingiri gate.
Deputy CMO, Dimapur, Dr. Antoly Suu also advised for strict monitoring of the border areas in order to avoid community transmission.
