Dimapur, May 24 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan, on Monday informed that the district task force would bear the expenses for disposing the dead bodies of Covid-19 victims from “needy or poor families who are not in a position to pay any incidental cost”.

Reminding the public about “management and disposal of Covid-19 dead bodies”, as laid down by the Union Health Ministry and Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), the DC stated that “identified dead bodies will be handed over to the relatives for proper burial after taking all infection control measures by the concerned hospital”.

“The unclaimed dead bodies will be taken over by the SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) for proper disposal. However, in circumstances when the relatives are not in a position to take a Covid Positive Dead body due to various constraints such as financial, logistics etc., the SDRF shall assist in disposing the dead body,” read the press release.
