Dimapur, May 18 (EMN): With the designation of District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) as Covid hospital to treat the surging Covid cases, the department of Health and Family Welfare has directed the Dimapur district task force (DTF) to make an alternative arrangement for delivery of essential healthcare services.

In this connection, the DTF is advised to identify suitable and strategically located government healthcare facilities such as CHC/ PHC/ UPHC/ SC/ SMIT1/ TB&CDH for delivery of essential healthcare services including emergency secondary services. A DIPR report stated that equipment of the NHAK might be temporarily relocated as and when required for delivery of emergency secondary services.

It stated that some of the healthcare facilities for delivery of essential services should be identified as 24×7 functional, while the list of all healthcare facilities identified for delivery of essential services should be widely publicised for the information of the public at large.

It added that a comprehensive human resources plan should be put in place to mobilise the manpower requirement such as to requisition staff from other departments for non-medical and ministerial tasks and to pool HCWs from the establishments of CMO, MS, etc for medical tasks.

The DTF is also directed to set up a flu corner and isolation facility in all such healthcare facilities to enable prompt detection and segregation of suspected cases. All ILI and SARI cases as well as admitted patients are to be tested as per testing policy, it added.

Provision of diet and laundry services would be as per existing policy.

The NHAK should be the hub for diagnostic and blood bank services whenever required for the identified healthcare facilities.

DTF is also asked to establish an ambulance services network for timely transportation of patients to various health facilities besides setting up a call centre or the contact details of the ambulance operators to be widely publicised to the public at large.

DTF should also requisition necessary vehicles from other departments for transportation of staff and laboratory samples and also provide necessary security measures at the Covid Hospital Kohima.
