DIMAPUR — Having felt the need for a new deputy commissioner’s office complex, the Dimapur district planning and development board (DPDB) has resolved to write to the government seeking information for a stipulated timeframe for completion and other details.

The resolution to this effect was taken during the monthly DPDB meeting held in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner on Thursday under the chairmanship of advisor of Labour, Employment and Skill Development, Excise and DPDB chairman, Moatoshi Longkumer.

A DIPR report stated that after reviewing the last meeting minutes, the house deliberated on the need for a new DC office complex in Dimapur and resolved to write to the government seeking information for a stipulated time frame for completion and other details.

The house also decided to write a letter to the Transport department for deputing one officer in Dimapur for the convenience of the public with regard to renewal and licensing.

On the issue of the installation of CCTV cameras in the shops, a representative from the office of the Commissioner of Police informed that they have already identified 83 locations and completed the groundwork by robbing technicians from Guwahati.

However, since some persons from the business community have not taken the matter seriously, the representative has requested the administration to issue a notification to the shopkeepers for the installation of good quality CCTV cameras to strengthen the security in the district.

The report stated that the police representative would table the full report in the next meeting.

On the problem of flood in Dimapur which was flagged by the board chairman in the last meeting, the revenue officer (RO), Thejavizo Nakhro, informed that a 20-member committee has been constituted with DMC administrator along with members from other departments.

He informed that the committee has been divided into two teams and has completed spot verification in several locations.

Nakhro further informed that the team would submit its report in the next DPDB meeting.

With regard to the removal of obsolete and old telephone poles, an officer in charge from the administration informed that a meeting was held with the service operators following which all the wires has been bundled up as it was done in other states.

The office in charge informed that bundling of wires has been completed from Tragopan Hotel to Clock Tower adding that the 2nd phase of work from Clock Tower to DC office junction is underway.

Observing that wires are being drawn from different sites by individual house owners and shopkeepers spoiling the beauty of Dimapur city, the chairman has sought the intervention of the Power department to solve the problem before Christmas.

The chairman also reminded those departments who are yet to submit the monthly progress reports to do so in order to have a lively discussion and debate.

While observing the drainage problem as a major issue faced by Dimapur, especially during the monsoons, advisor Tovihoto felt the need for a comprehensive master plan in order to solve the problem.

He also noted that having a new DC office in Dimapur was a long-felt desire of the people.

The house has approved LADP 2023-24 schemes for Dimapur I, II and III AC and registration of societies.
