Dimapur, July 22 (EMN): Members of the Dimapur district planning and development board (DPDB) unanimously agreed to purchase a truck mounted sweeping and cleaner machine with the seed money allocated for Dimapur district. The idea to buy a high-tech sweeping machine was mooted by DPDB chairman and MLA, Moatoshi Longkumer, basically to keep Dimapur city clean.

Addressing a DPDB meeting on July 22, Moatoshi informed that the machine would cost INR 31 lakh, whereas the common pool fund for Dimapur was 23 lakh. In this regard, he has agreed to approach the concerned authority for the remaining requirement, while he also appealed for contribution from the members towards making the project a reality, stated a DIPR report.

Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal, has assured his full support towards the noble cause.

With numerous proposals for registration of societies, Moatoshi felt the need for monitoring the registered societies by the authority about their actual performance in the ground and to see whether they are living up to their aims and objectives.

The DC also reminded the members to attend the monthly DPDB meetings regularly.

Other agendas of the meeting included shifting of Grace Christian Mission School at Diphupar to Nihoto village. Considering the consistent good performance and also for fulfilling all the criteria, the house recommended for grant-in-aid to Lampstand Higher Secondary School in Toluvi. Proposals for registration of societies was also discussed and recommended by the House.

The principal of Dimapur Government College, Lilanthung, made a power point presentation and apprised the house about the ongoing activities of the college, weaknesses, strength and way forward.

The meeting concluded with a note of thanks delivered by the chairman.
