Dimapur DLCC commemorates 100 tobacco free institutions
Dimapur, May 26 (EMN): District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) review meeting for the 1st quarter 2017-2018 cum commemoration of 100th tobacco free institution was held on May 26 in the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur.
Chairing the meeting DC Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome lauded all the Tobacco free institutions under Dimapur district including the 12 tobacco free schools which was declared on the day. He said that being certificated as tobacco free schools was just the beginning of the story and reminded them that the real challenge would start now and encouraged them to take up awareness campaign for curbing the menace. Kesonyu observed that penalty aspect of controlling tobacco and targeting institution to educate children during the formative years needs to be focussed.
District Nodal officer, NTCP, Dr. C.Tetseo highlighted the awareness activities undertaken in various schools and colleges by NTCP during the past one year through a slide presentation. Informing the participants about World No Tobacco Day which is observed on May 31 every year. Dr.Tetseo asked the schools to organise various events to commemorate the day in a befitting manner.
Science teacher of MGM School, Vivek, while sharing his experience, suggested for creating awareness amongst the parents when parents teachers meetings are organised.
During the meeting Tobacco Free School Certificate was given to 12 schools.
