Dimapur, Aug.2 (EMN):
With just 100 beds, the Covid-19 hospital in Dimapur is said to be going through a ‘difficult situation’, which will continue unless the state government comes up with quarantine facilities for the ‘less serious’ Covid-19 positive patients.

The medical superintendent of District Hospital Dimapur, now Covid-19 hospital, Dr. Z Keshito Zhimomi, told Eastern Mirror that although the Covid-19 hospital is 100-bedded, the capacity is 88 as one or two beds have to be reserved for seriously ill patient, six for ICU, three for sick newborn care unit (SNCU) and three for paediatric.

He informed that even the Sukhovi Covid centre is full and the Dimapur deputy commissioner wants to expand the Covid centre in the district, which he feels is the ‘only solution to the almost-full Covid hospital’.

“There is no alternative as of now to accommodate more than 88 patients. There are 76 patients at the Covid hospital at present and more are coming today,” he said.

The MS said that district medical team is trying its best and “by God’s grace everyone is in good health. But if any of us fall ill, then it would be difficult to manage the situation with the alarming increase in number of positive cases”.
