Dimapur bandh postponed
Dimapur, Oct. 5 (EMN): The Public Action Committee under Naga Council Dimapur has postponed the proposed indefinite bandh in Dimapur on October 7 to an unspecified date.
A press release from the committee on Saturday informed that the decision was taken following a request from the district administration; and appeals from the Hindu Seva Samiti and the Bengali Samaj Dimapur to consider the Durga Puja celebrations in the commercial hub.
The committee, it stated, has decided to wait till October 19, when the sub-committee formed by the Dimapur administration is scheduled to bring out its ‘report with the price list of commodities from neighbouring towns, district and states for comparison and finalisation.’
However, the PAC expressed reservation over the ‘members of the district-level price monitoring committee’ and asserted that it will seek redress from the deputy commissioner.
While acknowledging the support from all quarters, the committee reminded the citizens that it has not suspended the bandh.
“PAC has not called off the indefinite bandh but is only providing a space to the administration to rectify the anomalies within the above mentioned period and PAC will certainly look for support to fight together with all likeminded organisations for the welfare of the society, districts and state in general,” it stated.
