DIMAPUR — Joining the rest of the country in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Nagaland also stepped up the campaign ahead of Independence Day.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) Nagaland on its twitter account on Sunday appealed to every citizen in the state to hoist the Tricolor (national flag) at their houses from August 13 to the 15th.

In the state’s commercial hub Dimapur, many houses and shops were seen adorned with the tricolour on Sunday.

Many colony councils in Dimapur also took it upon themselves to make sure that the government’s request to hoist the flag was adhered to, as seen in some colonies where not a single household missed to hoist the flag.

It was also reported that as against the government’s fixed price of INR 28 per flag, many of the shopkeepers were made to buy the flags at a higher amount. Sources also said that some colonies charged INR 25 per household for the flag, while other colonies charged double the amount.

A report from the state’s Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) informed that the idea behind the campaign is to invoke passion for nation building and patriotism and to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag.

The report went on to state that 4.3 lakh national flags have been received from the Ministry of Culture and distributed to all district headquarters, to be distributed to all the households in villages, towns, cities through the Deputy Commissioner’s office, BDOs and local administrative officers.

“All citizens are also informed to wholeheartedly take part in Har Ghar Tiranga celebrations between August 13-15 by hoisting the flag at their homes, business establishments and institutions and click selfies with the Tiranga (Tricolour) and upload at harghartiranga.com.,” the report stated.
