Dimapur administration gears up for Night Carnival

A Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 2 With festive season around the corner Dimapur administration has geared up for the annual Night Carnival which is to be held from December 17 to December 20, 2015 at Naga Shopping Arcade Supermarket Dimapur. This was informed by Dimapur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kesonyu Yhome at a press conference held at DC Office Conference hall Dimapur on Monday. Dimapur Night Carnival is organized under the aegis of district administration jointly by the business communities including the Business Association of Nagas (BAN), Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI), East Dimapur Business Association (EDBA) and some government departments including the Development Authority of Nagaland (DAN), informed DC Yhome. Throwing light on the proposed Dimapur Night Carnival the DC conveyed that Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) is oriented to present more organized, systematic and quality stalls to the people of Dimapur and unlike the previous years the number of stalls have been curtailed to 200 this year where 150 will be on open category and 50 by invitation. “The purpose of this categorization is to ensure that the stalls have quality and ensure that some stalls go through screening to ensure safety before opening it to the public consumption,” stated DC Yhome. While briefing on the process of stall allocation, it was informed that 150 stalls which be on open category and the selection process will be done by the committee which will be screened mainly to improve the quality of the stalls. The Night Carnival will be supported with entertainment section with live bands, solo artists, dance show and carol competition as the highlight of the carnival. The live band performance will be on open invitation, dance by invitation, solo artists performing on Hindi and English through 50/50 category and carol competition for 15 groups which will be an open invitation inviting institutions, youths, colonies, churches etc which will be judged by renowned artists with attractive prizes to be won. The first carnival night will witness live band performance, second night will witness dance show, the third night will witness 20 solo artists belting out both Hindi and English and the last night of the Carnival will witness Carol competitions with guest band performing. Other highlights of the Night Carnival will include stall which will gather the like of ethnic, book, tattoo, body art, photography and community food stalls. More on page 5 The Night Carnival has been constituted with sub committee’s for efficient functioning which constitutes the Entertainment Committee, Stall Committee, Human Resource Committee, Service Committee, Finance Committee and Media and Publicity Committee and these subcommittee will be headed by the Core Committee which will be chaired by the DC with DCCI President as the Convener including Co-conveners’ BAN President, EDBA President, DMC Executive Officer and ADC of Police, Co-opted member Secretary of DAN and Member Secretary SDO (Civil) Sardar. This was highlighted by the DC Yhome during the media briefing at DC Conference Hall. As part of the festivity, the Dimapur administration formally launched its annual Night Carnival Dimapur website www.dimapurnc.in which will update on the news of Night Carnival making it convenient for the public to be updated on the activities. On the stall lease and timings of the Carnival, the officials stated that the fees will be planned out as low as possible so that the stall vendors charge reasonably and accordingly to customers and the latter will be notified soon through the official website of the night carnival.
